使い方

A. いいえ。
A. はい。
iOS の「設定 > アプリ > ByteFit(または 設定 > プライバシーとセキュリティ > 写真)」から、追加を許可してください。

FAQ

Q. Are my images sent anywhere?
A. No. All processing happens entirely on your device; your images are never transmitted or uploaded. No account is required.
Q. I get "Can't get under the target size."
A. The target size is too small. To keep images looking right, ByteFit never goes below 30% quality or a 320 px long side. When it still doesn't fit, it tells you the smallest size it could reach. Try a slightly larger target.
Q. The result is a bit smaller than my target.
A. That is by design. Results are kept at 99% of the target size or less.
Q. Why did my image get smaller in pixels?
A. When lowering quality alone doesn't reach the target, ByteFit also reduces the image dimensions. Very large images are also scaled down to a limit that protects your device's memory (about 16 megapixels in the app, about 5 megapixels from the share sheet). Resized images are marked "Resized" in the result.
Q. Some images came back untouched.
A. Images already under the target size that need no format conversion or metadata removal are returned as they are, so no quality is lost. The result says "Already under the target size".
Q. Can I use HEIC and PNG images?
A. Yes. With the output format set to JPEG, HEIC and PNG images are converted to JPEG. Transparent areas in PNGs become white.
Q. Is location data removed?
A. Yes, when "Metadata" is set to "Remove Location" (the default) or "Remove All". Photo orientation is applied to the pixels with every setting.
Q. I can't save the compressed image.
A. The app needs permission to add to your photo library. Allow it from iOS Settings > Apps > ByteFit (or Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos). To save to Files, use "Save to Files" in the share menu.
Q. How many bytes is 1 MB?
A. By default, 1,000,000 bytes, which is what upload limits usually use. You can switch to 1,048,576 bytes in Settings.
Q. Are there ads or watermarks?
A. No. There are no ads and no watermark on exported images.
Q. How do I change the language?
A. The app supports English and Japanese and follows your device language. You can also set it per app from iOS Settings > Apps > ByteFit > Language.
